The most lightest motorcycle ever made by Ducati

Well, the renowned Italian motorcycle manufacturer just been held the world premiere event of their new motorcycles at the EICMA 2016, in Milan, and one of the models is a superbike with a weight so light.

Yes, introducing the 'Ducati 1299 Superleggera,' one of the lightest bikes in history. This bike is a lot to apply the use of carbon fiber, ranging from the frame, swingarm, subframe, fairings up to wheels.

As a result, the bike's dry weight is just 156 kg and if plus the contents such as the fuel and oil become only around 167 kg. Compare with Ducati Panigale 1299 which has a weight of 190.5 kg.

The power to weight ratio of the motorcycle is also to be remarkable. Because the bikes with weights as light as it is, must accommodate a maximum power of 215 horsepower generated by an L-twin Superquadro engine with a capacity of 1,285 cc.

With that much power potential, the superbike is also equipped with a number of electronic devices to be easily controlled and driven. Call it, there're the 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU 6D), Traction Control, Slide Control, Power Launch and Engine Brake Control. There is also a Quick Shifter, ABS Cornering system from Bosch, and Ducati Analyser+Data Capture System.

Ducati 1299 Superleggera also equipped with the best suspension and braking devices. Its front suspension uses the Öhlins FL936 multi-adjustable 43 mm and 1.35 kg lighter than the suspension of Panigale R. While rear suspension uses the Öhlins TTX36 are made of titanium.
These lightest superbike produced only 500 units worldwide use the brake of Brembo with 330 mm discs, and gripped by Brembo M50 monoblock calipers. And for the tires, the Ducati Superleggera 1299 uses Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tires.
