Re-popularized Classic Motorcycles

Classic motorcycle does have its own style that would not be enduring trends and technological developments. Until now, fans of classic motorcycles not only in Indonesia but throughout the world there are many.

The classic motorcycle that carries under-1960s nuanced style would be a trend back in 2013. This is reflected in the return of a motorcycle manufacturer that has been bankrupt or the efforts made by other manufacturers that reproduce their classic motorcycle.

1. MATCHLESS
Matchless motorcycle manufacturer has gone out of business since the 1960's. The British brand back into the motorcycles business arena, because purchased by Franco Malenotti, a businessmen from Italy and the owner of "Belstaff" fashion brand.

For fans of classic motorcycles, Matchless name is not something unfamiliar. Because the manufacturer has a long history and very memorable. Matchless was founded in 1899 and carved out a success story in racing world. In 1938, Matchless and AJS became part of Associated Motorcycles (AMC). Both models produce under their own brand. 

The hard times of these British motorcycles companies occurred in the 1960s, Matchless 4-step and 2-step engined replaced by Norton. It also ended a long history of Matchless. In 1967, Matchless with a single cylinder engine discontinued.

The Matchless new era begins with revitalization project that developed from the last Matchless products, namely G80, Silver Hawk, and Silver Arrow by adopting new technologies. The plan is at an early stage, the bike is not produced on a large scale or made a limited basis. However, production will be multiplied if Matchless motorcycles demands high.

In fact, in order to maintain the image of classic taste, the new owners retained Matchless production base in the UK, Malenotti still want to retain the iconic British classic motorcycle. Not only that, development centers and offices built in London, while marketing will spread to the UK and Italy.

More than that as an apparel entrepreneur, Malenotti add new strategies to provide special clothing that given brand Matchless to the two of his children, Emanuele and Michael.

2. BMW MOTORRAD
The German motorcycle manufacturer, BMW Motorrad also popularized back classic motorcycles, with preparing a special edition retro motorcycle for the 90th anniversary of this manufacturers. BMW made a symbol of retro cafe racer wing is a new icon of these manufacturers.

Although relying on retro models, the motor is equipped with today's technology. The model was developed leading to a BMW R 32, a motorcycle with the first boxer engines, BMW launched in about the 1920s.

In his speech at the international motorcycle show EICMA in Milan, BMW Motorrad President Stephen Shaller announced that BMW Motorrad will be presenting a new model with air-cooled 'boxer' engine in 2013 as a special way of marking the "90 years of BMW Motorrad" anniversary.

As long ago as 1923, the very first BMW motorcycle - the BMW R 32 – provided what was to become the genetic basis for the BMW Motorrad boxer series over nine decades: an air-cooled, 2-cylinder 4-stroke 'boxer' engine with longitudinally mounted crankshaft and shaft drive to the rear wheel.

Always combined with innovative technology and thrilling design - and with one priority above all else: sheer riding pleasure.
