Palm Oxidant, Anticancer Base Material

In the U.S. market the image of palm oil has a bad reputation. Products derived from red fruit (hard-shell), which is harvested on plantations the majority of countries of Southeast Asia, the final product is used as a cheap cooking oil.

However, blowing the story was almost entirely a lie, which is exhaled by people who do not like the presence of palm oil which will shift the position of corn oil and soybean which controls U.S. market. Initial studies conducted by industry experts and phytopharmacy show vitamin E contained in the palm oil fruit (tocotrienols) can help fight cancer and prevent stroke. Although tocotrienols can also be found in rice bran, barley, and wheat, the tocotrienol content of palm oil was very rich, says Pramod Khosla, a professor in the Department of Nutrition Wayne State University in Detroit USA.

He said many studies have been carried out on palm oil, over the past two decades in the U.S., Canada, and Malaysia. The result indicates that tocotrienols are very effective in killing cancer cells. Now, researchers around the world starting next research step by clinical trials in animals and humans against cancer.

"Clinical trials are being conducted by experts is due to the preliminary findings are so promising," said Khosla.

Of this trial could develop into a large, using the natural food-based compounds to prevent or treat cancer and stroke. "The advantage of these food compounds, naturally safe," said Arthur Ling, CEO of Davos Life Science, a biomedical companies in Singapore.

With steaming palm oil fruit at high temperature, pressure oil leaks. In nine-year Davos extracted tocotrienols from vitamin-rich fluid from the distillate. Eventually formed the raw material of the end of the palm oil supplement. A good way to find out the function of tocotrienols can be perfect absorbed in the body, the researchers say, is through given the high doses of health supplements in humans.

In June, Davos will start clinical trials, specifically in patients with end-stage human prostate cancer, research hospital in Kuala Lumpur. During the initial phase of approximately six months, cancer patients will be given a high level of tocotrienols under strict medical supervision. Davos expectations, patients can live by building a stronger relationship between the tocotrienols and cancer therapy. Even those who do not suffer from this disease, will be encouraged to increase their intake of tocotrienols by either by swallowing it through pills or add it to processed foods. *** [DEDI RISKOMAR | PIKIRAN RAKYAT 07062012]
