Regirobo, a new Japanese-made cashier robot

Panasonic Japan tested a cashier robot designed to calculate the total purchases, care of the payment up to wrap the items in plastic. "Regirobo," a cashier robot being tested in Lawson stores in which the Japanese electronics company collaborated to test the new technology.
Regirobo, invented by Panasonic and Lawson, basically does everything apart from choosing the goods you want to buy. It automatically calculates the bill and even bags the purchased goods. (Picture from: http://adf.ly/1gronK)
Buyers can put items in a special basket after pasting in the product barcode reader that is in the basket. Then, put the basket in a designated place at the checkout.

And the total price to be paid will appear and buyers can pay with cash, credit card or electronic money. Meanwhile, the bottom of the basket will be opened and its contents immediately into the plastic bag that were ready to picked up by the buyers.
As reported by Mainichi, the Lawson plans to install the Regirobo at its stores in Japan to reduce labor requirements and improving customer service. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | CNBC]
