Here's the next supercar's benchmark called the McLaren 750S

New BEAST After being produced for approximately 5 years, the iconic McLaren 720S supercar was officially replaced by the McLaren 750S which has a number of improvements. According to the automaker, about 30 percent of the components have been updated, including performance and aerodynamics. So far, there are two variants marketed to consumers, namely the McLaren 750S Coupe and Hardtop Convertible to continuing the body style of the 720S.
The McLaren 750S has a number of improvements. According to the automaker, about 30 percent of the components have been updated, including performance and aerodynamics. (Picture from: CarVaganza)
As for the drivetrain, the McLaren 750S entrusts a 4.0-liter V8 engine coupled with a twin-turbocharger, so that it can produce a maximum power of 750 hp with a peak torque of 800 Nm (this figure is claimed to be superior to the McLaren P1). Power and torque are channeled entirely to the rear wheels via a new 7-speed sequential transmission under a shorter drive ratio.
The McLaren 750S Spider version is one of variants besides the Coupe powered by a 4.0-liter V8 engine coupled with a twin-turbocharger, so that it can produce a maximum power of 750 hp with a peak torque of 800 Nm. (Picture from: CarVaganza)
Even though they carry the same engine, those two 750S variants have different performance figures. On paper, both are capable of accelerating from rest to 100 kph in just 2.7 seconds. But to reach speeds of 200 kph, the Spider variant is 0.1 seconds slower than the Coupe. Even to penetrate the quarter mile time, the 750S Coupe is also 0,2 seconds ahead superior to its Convertible variant which recorded a time of 10.3 seconds. However, the automaker ensures that both 750S variants can run up to a top speed of 331 kph.
Although uses the same drivetrain, The McLaren 750S Spider version is 0,2 seconds slower than the Coupe to achieve the quarter mile time. (Picture from: CarVaganza)
If we take a look at its exterior appearance, this British supercar has a much wider front track with a new suspension geometry. Apart from that, the manufacturer also pinned Proactive Chassis Control III which is claimed to be able to provide a more rigid and stable ride in corners. While for matters of aerodynamics, at the front the 750S has a new bumper design with air vents to flow air from the headlight chamber to the radiator.

Still at the front, there's an extended-splitter coupled with a large active spoiler to provide vehicle balance. One of the most interesting things at the stern is the embedding of the exhaust in the middle, which taken inspiration of the McLaren P1. Meanwhile, to increase the level of aerodynamics, the 750S also has large intakes at the rear wheels, a fresher grille mesh and an upgraded rear deck.

Enter the cabin, where we will be presented with the distinctive feel of a Woking supercar. Even manufacturers also present two additional specifications that consumers can choose from, namely TechLux and Performance. In the first option, the entire cabin will be wrapped using Nappa leather material while Performance combines leather and Alcantara.

Not only that, there is a cluster meter screen with a new feel and design where all vehicle information will be displayed. The McLaren Control Launcher is even available, which allows the driver to adjust aero, handling, powertrain and transmission features as he wishes. Even though it is intended to be a true supercar, McLaren also does not forget about the entertainment matters by embedding an Apple CarPlay connection in it.
The exhaust placement of the McLaren 750S (in pictured Coupe version) in the center is inspired by the McLaren P1. (Picture from: CarVaganza)
Keep in mind, that aerodynamic improvements were also made by the automaker down to the materials in the cabin. One of them is the use of racing seats made of carbon fiber material. According to McLaren, by using such of these seats, the weight of the 750S can be up to 17 kg lighter than the 720S. Even on all the wheels, the McLaren 750S uses lighter materials to cut weight by up to 15 kg.
So far the reception has been quite good, with some consumers have more expectations that the McLaren 750S could be brought a much more pleasant experience than its predecessor 720S, especially speeding on the race track matters. Furthermore, the British automaker also said that the McLaren 750S had been plotted to be McLaren's last conventional-engined supercar before the brand started producing new models with hybrid support.
The question is why is this brand targeting hybrid vehicles more than EVs? Well, in McLaren's view, this is more relevant because the current global order regarding the general law for electric cars has not been fully fixed, so the British supercar manufacturer has decided to target the hybrid segment first rather than go straight into the electric car segment.

This well-known British car brand has officially opened orders for the McLaren 750S under two variant options with a price tag starting at US $324,000 or around Rp.4.7 billion. But you have to remember, usually these prices do not include shipping costs, taxes and other additions. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | MCLAREN | AUTOCAR | CARSCOOPS ]

Introducing the Donkervoort F22 Limited Edition

Unique ONES Has anyone ever heard of a car manufacturer from the Netherlands, Donkervoort? Recently, the manufacturer officially launched its newest generation of supercar, namely the Donkervoort F22, which is intended as a replacement for the previous company supercar, namely the Donkervoort D8 GTO, which has been produced for more than ten years.
Donkervoort F22 is actually named after CEO Denis Donkervoort's eldest daughter, Filippa, who was born on May 22, 2022.. (Picture from: BlackXperience)
Mechanically, the F22 is powered by a 2.5 liter five-cylinder turbocharged engine that can churn out 493 bhp of power that's considered a huge output for such of car that weighs only 750 kg. This engine is paired with a manual transmission system equipped with a rev-matching feature to regulate engine speed, as well as a Torsen's limited slip differential to handle the boost of power generated by this supercar.
While the Donkervoort F22 may resemble its predecessor D8 GTO, it doesn't carry a single nut, bolt, or body panel.. (Picture from: id.Motor1)
Not only that, Donkervoort also implements a multi-step traction-control system capable to adjust the level of traction desired by the driver. The automaker company itself has not announced the performance figures of the Donkervoort F22. Nonetheless, the supercar has a power-to-weight ratio of 666 bhp and a top speed of over 180 mph.
The interior has a small digital display for instrumentation and there are only a few buttons around the shifter for managing various systems including an optional integrated iPad infotainment system. (Picture from: BlackXperience)
For matters of features, the Donkervoort F22 is equipped with a tubular steel and carbon fiber chassis wrapped in an aggressive-looking bodywork. On the inside, the Donkervoort F22 uses special Recaro seats and six-point seat belts that the automaker says can be used on track and road.

Apart from that, Donkervoort has equipped its new supercar with a targa roof and butterfly-style doors which make the supercar's visuals even more dramatic. At launch Donkervoort is rumored to be producing 50 units of the Donkervoort F22 supercar to start with, it turns out that before the launch time all production plans have been commissioned by the customers.

Because that's the Lelystad-based automaker increased production numbers to 75 units with the first units of its supercar launching in January 2023. And until the time came for the launch of the entire production plan of 75 units of the Donkervoort F22 has been ordered.
If this is the case, will the manufacturer from the Netherlands increase production by another 25 units to be an even total 100 units? We'll wait and see. There are no details on pricing yet, but when you consider that the D8 GTO model is already priced at around $240,000 plus tax, the Donkervoort F22 certainly won't be priced any lower than that. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | DONKERVOORT | ID.MOTOR1 ]

Porsche hopes to reach the FIA WEC's top podium through Porsche 963

Track BEAST In the world of motorsport, especially in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), there are many well-known automotive brands competing in it. And one of them is the Stuttgart-based auto manufacturer Porsche, which so far is known as the ruler of the race, and this German brand last competed in the 2017 season.
Porsche hopes to reach the FIA WEC's top podium through the Porsche 963 LMDh prototype. (Picture from: BlackXperience)
This year, Porsche returns to the top-tier category of the FIA WEC Hypercar class by relying on the Porsche 963 racing car. From its name, you can guess that Porsche wants to repeat the glory of the Porsche 962 in the Group C of the 1980s, which won the 24-Hours of Le Mans three times. and the 24-Hours of Daytona five times.
The Porsche 963 LMDh prototype has a unique appereance when viewed from the front with the presence of a series of thin headlight design consisting of 64 LEDs like the Porsche Vision Gran Turismo. (Picture from: id.Motor1)
By the way, this is very different when compared to an Italian auto brand Ferrari, which chose the LMH type, whose at the same time developed its car independently from scratch, instead Porsche decided to adopt the LMDh type which called as 'thrifty packages'. Why is it called like that? Because in mentioned type of car, the manufacturer practically only needs to prepare the engine and face looks identified to the chassis specs made by one of the 4 selected constructors, ie Multimatic, Oreca, Dallara and Ligier.
The Porsche 963 LMDh prototype takes inspiration from the iconic Porsche racing cars of the 1980s, namely the 956 and 962. (Picture from: CintaMobil)
Well for the Porsche 963, this German car manufacturer has teamed up with Multimatic as the constructor which has been a reliable supplier for the LMP2 and DPi categories since 2017. Presumably, Porsche is still traumatized by its experience with the Porsche 919 Hybrid in the LMP1 during the 2014 to 2017 seasons. At that time the battle between Porsche, Audi, and Toyota in the LMP1 had caused racing costs skyrocket which were not matched by the return on investment from the exposure side.
The Porsche 963's hybrid system, which is standard on all LMDh cars, utilizes a motor generator unit (MGU) mounted on the rear axle to harvest kinetic energy under braking, and then stores that energy using a lithium-ion battery to aid in propulsion later. (Picture from: Porsche)
It is said that to finance its 919 Hybrid program, Porsche is spending a budget equivalent to a mid-table F1 team. As a result, Audi and Porsche preferred to back off and leave Toyota alone on the track. Now, with the LMDh-efficient package, it is hoped that racing costs can be reduced by up to 80 percent.
As the kitchen spur of the Porsche 963 LMDh prototype used an updated 4,600 cc V8 unit inherited from the Porsche RS Spyder hybrid racing car. (Picture from: Porsche)
As the kitchen spur, Porsche chose a 4,600 cc V8 unit inherited from the Porsche RS Spyder racing car that had competed 20 years ago. The engine has been rejuvenated, then mated with Bosch-made hybrid system to be able to produce a total power of 700 hp to be channeled to the rear wheels.
The Porsche 963 LMDh prototype built incollaboration between Porsche with Multimatic as the constructor which has been a reliable supplier for the LMP2 and DPi categories since 2017. (Picture from: Porsche)
This is in accordance with what was conveyed by Thomas Laudenback, the boss of Porsche Motorsport, that the machine is not such an old machine because it has undergone the addition of three fundamental things, namely; the engine got a structural updated, the second is designed for sustainable fuel and lastly, it also got a turbocharged system.

While from its appearance when viewed from the side and rear, the Porsche 963 is indeed seems like an ordinary LMP type of car. The difference is only visible when viewed from the front with the presence of a series of thin headlight design consisting of 64 LEDs like the Porsche Vision Gran Turismo. Presumably Porsche prefers a Taycan-style facial identity to represent its modern concept rather than the looks of usual Porsche sports car.
The Porsche's three racing cars in posed togather including the Porsche 963 (center) with the Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo (left) and the Porsche Mission R (right). (Picture from: CintaMobil)
Even though the German's brand prefers the LMDh type of car, that doesn't mean that Porsche has set a humble target. Because the German manufacturer hopes that the Porsche 963 capable to bring home the 20th titles of Le Mans for them.
The Hertz Jota will be the first private team in the 6-Hours of Spa-Francorchamps using the Porsche 963 LMDh prototype. (Picture from: CintaMobil)
Indeed that is not impossible, because on its debut in the IMSA 24-Hours of Daytona series, the Porsche 963 managed to finish P7, while its debut at the FIA WEC 1000 Miles of Sebring was in P5. Then followed by the 3rd podium at the FIA WEC 6-Hours of Portimão and a maiden win at the IMSA Grand Prix of Long Beach.
Turn out, there's another interesting thing about the Porsche 963, that the race car is also available for private teams, and Hertz Jota will be the first LMDh's private team in the 6-Hours of Spa-Francorchamps series held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 which raced along with the factory team Porsche Penske Motorsports. Meanwhile at the IMSA arena, JDC Miller MotorSports will use the Porsche 963 at the Laguna Seca in this May. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | PORSCHE | FIAWEC | ID.MOTOR1 | MOTORMOBILE.NET | DAILYSPORTSCAR | RACECARENGINEERING ]

The only-one Gilbern T11 concept car of Wales

Forgotten ONES Still reviewing about unique sports cars from all over the world whose existence may have never been known before. Well, this time we stopped in Wales, which turned out to have had a car manufacturer in the past with several car models produced during the 1960s to 1970s. The Welsh company referred to above is Gilbern Sports Cars (Components) Ltd.
The only-one Gilbern T11 sports car prototype of Wales built by Gilbern Sports Cars (Components) Ltd. back in 1970. (Picture from: Historic Automotive Promotion)
As quoted from Wikipedia, the company is based in Llantwit Fardre, Pontypridd, Glamorgan, Wales was founded in the 1959 by Giles Smith (previously a butcher, who died in 2003) and Bernard Friese, a German engineer with experience in glass fibre mouldings. The name, Gilbern, was a combination of the first three letters of the name of founder Giles Smith and the first four letters of the name of his co-founder Bernard Friese.
The only-one Gilbern T11 sports car prototype of Wales appears in the typical wedge style, and sits very low and it’s thin wide windscreen enhances it’s wide profile. (Picture from: Historic Automotive Promotion)
The company started as a small workshop in Church Village, Pontypridd but when production started the business moved to a new location in the old Red Ash Colliery near Llantwit Fardre. The cars were initially only available as kits but later complete cars became available as well.
Actually the interior of the only-one Gilbern T11 sports car prototype of Wales was a blank canvas; then adjusted by Johnston used Smith dials to match the Genie/Invader during restoration. (Picture from: Historic Automotive Promotion)
During the production period from 1959 to 1973, this Welsh automotive company produced several car models, such as 280 units of Gilbern GT (1959-1967), 197 units of Gilbern Ginie (1966-1969), and finally 603 units of Gilbern Invader (1969-1973). And to promoting their products, Gilberns have often been entered in competition at the Wiscombe Park Hillclimb, first appearing there in 1962 in the hands of an Aston Martin Owners Club member.

Towards the 1969, this company had experienced financial difficulties which led to a change of ownership from Giles Smith shifted to Ace Capital Holdings Ltd, whose main business was the manufacture of slot machines. While at the same time, in 1970 the Welsh autocompany had built a one-off concept car prototype called the Gilbern T11, is intended to be the company's new two-seater sports car with the aim to display it at the 1971 Geneva Motor Show (but it never happened) due to this project was ceased while the prototype was in a partially built condition.
The only-one Gilbern T11 sports car prototype of Wales has extremely curvy rear end softens the sharpness of the front end and gives the car a very wide stance. (Picture from: Historic Automotive Promotion)
This concept car was designed by Trevor Frost or Trevor Fiore, who was previously known through his works such as the TVR Trident, Alpine A310 and Monteverdi 450 Hai. This one-off sports car of Welsh appears in the typical wedge style of the 1970s, which at first glance resembles the shape of the Monteverdi 450 Hai (maybe because both were designed by the same person).
The only-one Gilbern T11 sports car prototype of Wales during restoration with Gordon Johnston at its side. (Picture from: Gilbern)
It was powered by a lightly tuned 1.5-liter Austin Maxi drivetrain turned by 180 degrees, and from three chassis were built but only one example was finished. Although this Gilbern T11 is very promising, the company recalled the project, then shortly thereafter it went bankrupt in 1973. It was later learned the car was under the ownership of Gordon Johnston who reportedly spent nearly 10 years restoring those forgotten Gilbern sports car prototype, and completed in 2009–2010.
Unfortunately, this prime condition did not last long, this car had an accident in 2011 which destroyed the driveshafts and differential gearbox, so the engine should be replaced with Toyota MR2's 2.0 liter Mk 2 engine capable of producing 200 bhp. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | GILBERN | FABWHEELDIGEST | HISTORIC AUTOMOTIVE PROMOTION | TAKETOTHEROAD | WIKIPEDIA | SIMONCARS ]
