Adonis was a forgotten French young designer-made supercar

Forgotten ONES Everyone must have a dream that they want to come true, so what if that dream comes true? Can you imagine how happy would be when your dream is realized. And that feeling was felt by Nicolas Bourbon when he successfully completed his dream supercar in 1993.
Adonis is designed and built by Nicolas Bourbon back in 1993 for 3,600 hours over 5 years of work. (Picture from: AllCarIndex)
It should be admited that's a beautiful supercar prototype which is a teenager's dream come true. This extraordinary vehicle mentioned above named the Adonis is the work of Nicolas Bourbon, a young car designer from Genlis, Côte-d'Or in eastern France. The Nicolas Bourbon's Adonis may be similar in name to the Edonis, a supercar built of B Engineering based on the Bugatti EB110 launched later in 2001.
Nicolas Bourbon has built the entire car from scratch, including the front and rear wheels, pneumatic suspension, reverse mirrored headlights and superb bodywork. (Picture from: AllCarIndex)
According to Le Bien Public, it was a crazy project done in a crazy rhythm of young-aged Nicolas Bourbon for 3,600 hours over 5 years of work patiently accomplished in his family garage during his lunch hours, evenings, weekends and holidays. That means long periods of working which resulted in a dream car prototype that looks like a supercar, that's could be said a very extraordinary achievement.

Nicolas Bourbon has built the entire car from scratch, including the front and rear wheels, pneumatic suspension, reverse mirrored headlights and superb bodywork. Of course in the process he did not work alone. As quoted of All Car Index, it turns out that he collaborated with Lionel Garrault of Genlis for leather work, and Mécanique Générale Outillage (MGO) of Varanges for machining. As for bodywork, he gained a bit more knowledge while working at Piscine Provence Polyester in Pouilly-en-Auxois for composite fibres.
Nicolas Bourbon's Adonis is powered by a 5,200 cc V8 mid-mounted engine capable spitting out of 420 hp @ 7,000 rpm. (Picture from: AllCarIndex)
Just imagine the result is such a beautiful supercar with a length of about 4,500 mm, a width of 2,000 mm, then a height of about 950 mm with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. Amazingly, the Adonis is powered by a 5,200 cc V8 mid-mounted engine capable of spitting out 420 hp at 7,000 rpm. Well, when asked about the performance is also quite capable with the ability to accelerate from rest to 100 kph in just 3.3 seconds and a claimed top speed of around 330 kph.
Young Nicolas Bourbon posed along with his creation supercar named Adonis. (Picture from: AllCarIndex)
It is not surprising that through his Adonis supercar work, then Nicolas Bourbon was declared one of the prize winners at the Expo-Sciences at Nevers and at the Youth Challenge run by the French Ministry of Youth and Sports, and was highly praised by automotive journals at that time.
Nicolas Bourbon's Adonis handcrafted supercar received an extraordinary response when it attended in late February at the Racing and Special Car Exhibition in Paris. (Picture from: AllCarIndex)
Nicolas Bourbon's handcrafted supercar also received an extraordinary response when it attended in late February at the Racing and Special Car Exhibition held in Paris, where the beautiful car received tremendous attention and enthusiastic reception of the event visitors since the car came out of the trailer.
Not only that, a number of congratulated greetings were received by the car creator given by the many major company's directors and as well a number of offered proposals from the car constructors. We don't know what happened after that, in fact until now the Adonis has never been mass-produced and there is only one in this world. Will the dream, 'concept car' really come true? *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | LE BIEN PUBLIC | BOURBON GENLIS | ALLCARINDEX | AUTOWORLD TURBO ]

Ferrari does not acknowledge the existence of F40 LM Barchetta

Rare ONES The car that we will discuss below is unique and rare, why is that? Well, even though it's built on the legendary Ferrari model of 1980s, it was not allowed to wear the Prancing Horse badge, due to its existence has never been acknowledged by the Maranello-based manufacturer. It's so sad, like an unwanted child.😢
The Ferrari F40 LM Barchetta or F40 'Beurlys' was originally built based on the legendary Ferrari F40 LM number 19. (Picture from: Monochrome-Watches)
But don't be cry yet, okay. Although Ferrari has never acknowledged its existence, the car known as the Ferrari F40 LM Barchetta or F40 'Beurlys' was originally built based on the legendary Ferrari F40 LM.

For those of you who are supercar fans, especially Ferrari, you must understand the Ferrari F40, which was made in the 1980s and is known to be one of the most special supercars in the history of the world's automobiles, then there's also racing version called the F40 LM, which only 19 units were ever produced worldwide.
A 1987 road-legal version of the Ferrari F40. (Picture from: Monochrome-Watches)
Well, the unfortunate car that was not acknowledged by Ferrari was originally the F40 LM number 19 which was ever driven by Jean Alesi and Jean-Pierre Jabouille in the racing arena, both famous in Formula 1. After retiring from the racing world, the car was bought by Jean 'Beurlys' Blaton, a Belgian billionaire with a passion for cars (there's also another version said that the car was given to Jean Blaton as a farewell gift).
The brutal LM version of the Ferrari F40, for race purposes. (Picture from: Monochrome-Watches)
As quoted of Monochrome-Watches, Jean Blaton is a former driver who has ever raced in the 24 Hours of Le Mans more than fifteen times, mostly with Ferrari. He was dissatisfied with the one-in-nineteen car he considered the 'regular' car any fellow billionaires could afford, and wanted his car to be unique.

To make his wish come true, he assigned the job to Belgian automaker Tony Gillett, who later built the Gillet Vertigo. Besides that, he also contacted Michelotto who was involved in the F40 LM variant development to oversee the rebuilding of the Blaton's Ferrari F40 LM Barchetta.
The Ferrari F40 LM Barchetta or F40 'Beurlys' built by Belgian automaker Tony Gillet under supervised of Michelotto and commissioned of Jean 'Beurlys' Blaton. (Picture from: Monochrome-Watches)
In short, the car rebuilding work was carried out immediately with cut-off the roof, the bodywork was altered again and then the competition windshield was installed, the engine restrictor was removed, the exhaust was rerouted to exit on the side, the roll-cage was installed and the chassis was upgraded with F1-style pushrod suspension. Then after the the bodywork construction process was completed, then it was painted in yellow, the official historic racing color for Belgium.

Then what about the performance? After the engine restrictor is removed, so that allows its Tipo F120 B Twin-Turbocharged V8 engine to exhale full power up to 760-horses which are then able to make the F40 'Beurlys' running up to a maximum speed of 368.54 kph. Can you imagine if you drive at such a high speed with a roofless car? You would be shocked if those speeding sensation tears off your skin.😀
The Ferrari F40 LM Barchetta or F40 'Beurlys' is powered by Tipo F120 B Twin-Turbocharged V8 engine capable exhale full power up to 760-horses. (Picture from: Monochrome-Watches)
Well, to set it apart from its 18 siblings, apart from not wearing the Prancing Horse badge, the F40 'Beurlys' also doesn't have the 'F40' label, which is usually stamped into one of the uprights of the massive rear wing. This is a common practice done by Ferrari, who is known to be so protective of its cars that a change of this magnitude disqualify it as a Ferrari product, and as a consequence, the car in question was required to remove all Prancing Horse badge, Ferrari logo and trim.

Furthermore, its data was also scrapped from the Maranello-based car company's archives and deemed "lost", although most of its history is known. Regarding to this F40, what is certain since then Jean 'Beurlys' Blaton was never again allowed to own the Prancing Horse badged sportscar until he died in 2020.😮
Such a kind of powerfull drivetrain will propel the F40 'Beurlys' from 0 to 100 kph in around 3.1 sec and can make it run up to a top speed of 368.54 kph. (Picture from: Monochrome-Watches)
As quoted of Jalopnik, in 2005, the F40 'Beurlys' had a chance to be auctioned in France along with 41 other cars of Jean Blaton's collection. Reportedly at that time the car was expected to sell around $190,000 to $245,000, but unfortunately it was not sold. Until now it's unknown whether Jean Blaton is still the owner of F40 'Beurlys' or has changed hands, but it appeared during an official Ferrari track day a couple of years ago.
Besides that, there are several other versions of the story related to the F40 LM Barchetta, as stated that the F40 Barchetta is not Ferrari F40 and that is actually a tube-framed, fiberglass replica that is powered by unspecified Alfa Romeo machines.😧 There's another story says that the car was commissioned by Jean Blaton and built by the Italian-Swiss team under the supervision of Argentina-born engineers, Mario Navarrete, a former technician of the Coloni F1 team. Its powertrain comes from the destroyed F40 but in this configuration produces 650 horsepower.😏

Finally, whatever the story was, the F40 IMSA LM Barchetta or F40 'Beurlys' is an interesting historical anomaly to discuss, although Ferrari firmly does not acknowledge it as its official model. While in our opinion (hopefully you would agree) that the car is a cool roadster version of F40.😎 *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | MONOCHROME-WATCHES | JALOPNIK ]

Get a driving pleasure in the great outdoors under the Cielo

The SKY Like other world-renowned car brands, Maserati still exists as one of the world's premium car brands, which is loyal to bringing new models to the global market. And some time ago, Maserati launched its new model named the Maserati MC20 Cielo (Cielo, an Italian means 'Sky') in Modena, Italy. And the automaker said that is the first convertible model since the V8-engined Maserati Grancabrio that was launched in 2019.
The Maserati MC20 Cielo devoted to be a model for driving pleasure in the great outdoors with its flagship features of the folding roof windows that can change from clear to opaque at the touch of a button. (Picture from: Autocar)
Furthermore, the Maserati MC20 Cielo devoted to be a model for driving pleasure in the great outdoors with its flagship features of the folding roof windows that can change from clear to opaque at the touch of a button which can go from open to closed in just 12sec.
The Maserati MC20 Cielo built based on the carbon fibre tub, featured with butterfly doors are also carried over the roof mechanism. (Picture from: Autocar)
As quoted from Autocar, it is likely that the Italian automaker company will distribute the MC20 Cielo to the global automotive market starting in the first quarter of 2023 to become a serious rival for the McLaren 720S Spider, Ferrari 296 GTS, and Chevrolet Corvette Convertible which were there before.
The Maserati MC20 Cielo has a lavishly appointed cockpit, where the Italian craftsmanship seamlessly combines and complements cutting edge technology. (Picture from: Autocar)
Reportedly along with its predecessor, the Maserati MC20, the new model of supercar mentioned above will be produced of 1,400 units per year. That means, the new Maserati MC20 Cielo can contribute to the company's sales for next year, and also indicates that the Italian premium car brand will focus on product quality, not sales quantity.

Notebly that the Italian renowned car brand made a business profit in 2021 and has sold 24,200 cars in 2021, 7,300 more than 2020. However, this number is still far from the peak sales of 51,500 units in 2017.
The Maserati MC20 Cielo is powered by a mid-mounted 3,000 cc six-cylinder Nettuno engine capable spitting out 630 hp of power and torque of 730 Nm. (Picture from: Autocar)
As Davide Grasso, Maserati CEO said, "Success in terms of sales, not necessarily for customers." However, he also regretted that the level of product damage experienced by Maserati during that period was actually higher than the average luxury market car.

"It feels like we are in a vicious circle, there are cars that are not sold so the discounts offered are getting bigger. At that time we were not good enough to provide quality, new powertrain, infotainment features," he added.
Such a kind of high-revving mid-mounted drivetrain will propel the MC20 Cielo from 0 to 100 kph in around 3.0 sec and can make it run up to a top speed of 320 kph. (Picture from: Autocar)
According to Bernard Loire, Maserati's Chief Commercial Officer said that the company sales could potentially reach 30,000 units this year, although that was not the company's target.

"That's a projection based on our current performance, adding that China is Maserati's second largest market after the United States, he said further.
Meanwhile, the technical specifications of the Maserati MC20 Cielo are as follows, where the engine is occupied by a 3,000 cc six-cylinder Nettuno engine. And such a kind of high-revving mid-mounted drivetrain will propel the MC20 Cielo from 0 to 100 kph in around 3.0 sec and can make it run up to a top speed of 320 kph.

The MC20 Cielo built based on the carbon fibre tub, featured with butterfly doors are also carried over the roof mechanism and that to adds just 65 kg of the total kerbweight, which is posted at 1,540 kg. Then the new Maserati supercar is priced at US$277,000 or Rp. 4 billion. Well, that price figure is indeed more expensive than the entry-level models of the Ferrari and Aston Martin cars. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | MASERATI | AUTOCAR ]

Did You know this mysterious Japanese supercar of the 2000s?

Forgotten ONES If We talking about a Japanese supercar, maybe what you have in mind is only the Nissan Skyline GT-R, Toyota Supra, Mazda RX-7, Acura NSX, and many other 'mainstream' ones. Are they exotic? Not exactly, maybe because of they were produced in mass large number of productions. And how's about the Lexus LFA? It could be, in addition to having an exotic design, the automaker made it in limited number.
The Tommy Kaira ZZ-II was a promising Japanese supercar that never made into production. (Picture from: CarThrottle)
So, is the Lexus LFA, the only-one Japanese supercars? Apparently, there is also another Japanese-made supercar called the Tommy Kaira ZZ-II, which known also as one of the legendary JDM supercar, despite having an amazing design and capabilities, it unable to shine in the global's automotive market.

As an automotive company, originally Tommy Kaira founded as Tomita Yume Koujou is a Japanese automotive tuning and manufacturing company founded in 1986 and headquartered in Minami-ku, Kyoto, Japan. Meanwhile the company's name after its two founders, Yoshikazu Tomita and Kikuo Kaira.
The Tommy Kaira ZZ-II is designed by Tomita Yoshikazu and built by the Japanese automaker in 2 versions, namely the racing and street versions. (Picture from: AutoWeek.nl)
For those of you who often play racing simulator video games, surely know the cool cars made by this Japanese company. Well, the Tommy Kaira ZZ-II produced by the Japanese automaker in 2 versions, namely the racing and the street versions, and both of which are cool, unique and could be driven virtually in the famous racing simulation video games of Gran Turismo.

The Tommy Kaira ZZ-II is designed by Tomita Yoshikazu and intended to be the successor to the company's previous popular product, the Tommy Kaira ZZ. This supercar built based on the ZZ's lightweight aluminum chassis with an aggressive and charming design.
The Tommy Kaira ZZ-II's cabin is unique for the size of a Japanese-made left hand drive layout car with the position of the handbrake is really high. (Picture from: S2ki.com)
As it is known that since the ZZ sports car, Tommy Kaira has always used Nissan-made engines. So, for the ZZ-II, Tomita choose the mighty RB26DETT Skyline GT-R modified engine and mounted in the middle, to make it more powerful with a maximum power of 542 hp at 5,900 rpm.

Is that enough? We think those engine's power numbers are enough if combined with the the ZZ-II's weight which is 1 ton only! It is conceivable to accelerate from rest to 100 kph in just 3.3 seconds, as well as could reached a maximum speed of up to 210 mph. That's certainly an impressive performance figure considering the automaker  is not a big company!
The Tommy Kaira ZZ-II is powered by the mighty RB26DETT Nissan Skyline GT-R modified engine and mounted in the middle, to make it more powerful with a maximum power of 542 hp at 5,900 rpm. (Picture from: HotCars)
With such impressive performance numbers, normally good control is needed. So Tommy Kaira cleverly installed four-wheel drive taken from the Skyline GT-R as well as the ATTESA's state-of-the-art traction control technology. As for the car's braking system, as shown in the picture, it uses disc brakes with 6-piston calipers at the front and 4-piston calipers at the rear.

The Tommy Kaira ZZ-II's cabin is unique for the size of a Japanese-made left hand drive layout car with the position of the handbrake really high. The plan, Tommy Kaira designed the ZZ-II on the basis of the Lotus Elise, and was intended for the European market for around $90,000, it was a proper numbers for a supercar at the time.
The Tommy Kaira ZZ-II is built on the ZZ's lightweight aluminum chassis with an aggressive and charming design. (Picture from: CarThrottle)
Supposedly with an aggressive and charming design, the ZZ-II certainly attracts the attention of many parties. Unfortunately fate said otherwise!😓 Just because of a bad marketing strategy, it makes sales figures flat and can be said to be not sale well. Fortunately not everyone closes their eyes, apparently there are still some parties like Autobacs, the largest Japanese car accessories franchise whose still appreciated it.
Then the ZZ-II acquired by the ASL to be sold under its badge and used later as the basis for their new sportscar named the ASL RS-01 Garaiya. Nevertheless, from that We can took the lessons, at least it showed that there's an unfamous company was able also making great supercars, even without the support of major manufacturers. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | AUTOBACS | CARTHROTTLE | AUTOWEEK.NL | HOTCARS ]

Coolest Chrysler's supercar ever

Coolest EVER For a bit of nostalgia by featuring article about a row of great supercars that ever made in the 21st century. The world of supercars is dominated by the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, McLaren, and so many others – but these are not the only players in the game. You might be surprised to learn that Chrysler, an American automaker also tested the waters of the supercar market in the early of this 2nd millenium.
The Chrysler ME Four-Twelve unveiled by the American automaker Chrysler back in the 2004. (Picture from: TopCarRating)
Back in 2004, Chrysler unveiled the ME Four-Twelve supercar, which was not a concept car but a prototype of a car that was slated to be put into production. The car debuted at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, and the Arizona International Auto Show that same year.

The Chrysler ME Four-Twelve supercar concept is considered as the most advanced car ever produced by the American automaker. It has a perfect combination of high-power engine, to-die-for looks, and great performance. To begin with something to be said about the looks. To say that the supercar looks great would be just an understatement. If you are a supercar lover and has a fantasy for a supercar style, this one will surely make your jaw drop out of awe.
Interior view of Chrysler ME Four-Twelve. (Picture from: MotorTrend)
Amazingly, the ME Four-Twelve supercar's body is made of carbon fiber, no wonder if it was very light. In fact, the carbon fiber and aluminum are the lightweight materials  are widely used to build a supercar concept. It is said that it took less than one year for Chrysler to come up with this such beauty. The supercar's body also completed with chrome-moly sub frames and stylish aluminum crush structures which not only adds to the style quotient, but also resulted into compliance with U.S. federal regulations for crash or impact testing. Overall, a solid supercar, but at the same time looks very stylish thanks to the tons of work that went into the conceptualization.
Right side view of Chrysler ME Four-Twelve. (Picture from: KorrsKorner)
The interior is surprisingly spacious for a concept car that is only about 45 inches tall. There is a wide enough leg room and there is a large glass roof panels from the windshield to the rear header. The suspension consisting a group control of aluminum double wishbones, stainless steel push-rods, anti-roll bars, and assisted by a power-steering. All openings in the body of the supercar has been optimized to improve thermal performance. The spacious cockpit intelligently designed to accommodate comfortably even a taller people.
The Chrysler ME Four-Twelve is powered by a dynamic ME quad-turbo, V12 engine. (Picture from: TheSupercars.org)
Chrysler ME Four-Twelve supercar powered by a dynamic ME quad-turbo, V-12 engine that lives up to expectations. This kind of engine are taken care of by a high efficiency cooling system to ensures the engine stays cold all the time. The such engine capable produces an incredible 850 horsepower and 850 ft-lbs of torque, which allows it to accellerate from 0 to 60 mph (96.56 kph) in just 2.9 seconds and to 100 mph (160.93 kph) in just 6 seconds! Compare that with the Ferrari Enzo, which takes 3.1 seconds to hit the same speed-numbers!
Rear view of Chrysler ME Four-Twelve. (Picture from: MotorTrend)
All of that power is delivered to the wheels via a seven-speed Ricardo double-clutch transaxle with Formula One-style paddle shifters mounted on the steering column. Chrysler engineers calculated the top speed of the car to be approximately 399.12 kph or 248 mph (this has not been confirmed in the real-testing), enough to compete with other concept cars in its genre.

At this kind of speed, you would expect the system to double braking efficient. The braking system consists of a large 15-inch brake disc rotors and calipers six- piston mono-block. What this means is you can press the brake comfortably even at very high speed and sports cars will stop screeching. Disc brake rotors are carbon ceramic composite and the calipers are made of aluminum to improve performance.
Chrysler ME Four-Twelve supercar also features many active and passive aerodynamic equipment to give optimum performance at even very high speeds. There were only two ME Four-Twelves were ever built. Today, both cars is on display at the Walter P. Chrysler Museum in Auburn Hills, Michigan. It’s a shame that this brilliant example of engineering and design was never put into production.😭 *** [EKA [16022014] | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | CHRYSLER | MOTOR TREND]
