When you hear Ferrari, then what comes to your mind is the fastest Italian vehicle on the roads featured with a very futuristic design. Just look at the appearance of the Ferrari 250 GT Lusso, an exotic-style Prancing Horse-logoed car which had to be the favorite vehicle of Hollywood legend Steve McQueen apart from the Ferrari 275 GTB/4.

As quoted of Carscoops, the car was first produced in 1962 and is intended to be more of a luxury grand tourer rather than a sports car like the Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta. Surprisingly, it turns out that the 250 GT Lusso is more attractive to consumers than its predecessor. Maybe because of the car has a thick of the classic impression.

In terms of interior, the Ferrari 250 GT Lusso is made more spacious than the standard version of the 250 GT. This is because the Lusso capable accomodated two people only inside its cabin, if it compared to other types of 250 GT/E is produced by Ferrari with four seats.

If you look it more closely, the interior and exterior design of the Ferarri 250 GT Lusso, at a glance, resembles the Volkswagen Karmann Ghia. The difference is, the classic VW model is capable accomodated four-seat inside its cabin.

As is known, for the car produced in the 1960s such it is came with a million question marks. For example, curiosity about navigation systems that already use many electronic buttons like one attached on the future cars. If you press the wrong one, instead of turning on the wiper, you will mess up the fuel pump.

An automotive enthusiast named Doug DeMuro, really enjoys the sensation of driving using the Lusso. He said that the operation of the vehicle was very easy, such as stepping on the clutch, moving the lever pedal, the braking system, and of course its speeds.

By using a V12 engine coupled with triple Weber twin-choke carburetor, so it capable of producing power up to 240 to 250 horse power. As a result, the car can accelerate from 0 to 96 kph in 8 seconds. Even though the acceleration is quite heavy if it compared to today's sports cars, at least that number is not bad enough. The reason is, the car is not young anymore.
During its production time ranging from 1962 to 1964, there were only 351 units ever produced, and the Ferrari 250 GT Lusso is priced at US $13,375. However, its price noted be shot up to $500,000 in an auction in 2010. Overall, for a 1960s Ferrari, the Lusso was spacious, comfortable, easy to drive and .......... (your suggestion?). The legendary Porsche 550 Spyder 'Little Bastard' of James Dean

Legendary ONES Talking about mystical and haunted things, usually it will be directly related to buildings, but in fact other inanimate objects such as cars that have not been used for a long time are also often considered to have a strange and mystical aura that is sometimes incomprehensible rationally. Regardless of whether this is true or not, some of the stories are still interesting to read and listen. Even more so if there is another conspiracy behind it.
1955 Porsche 550 Spyder 'Little Bastard' once owned by James Dean. (Picture from: Hagerty)
One of the cars that is often reported by the media because it is said to be haunted is the Porsche 550 Spyder was once owned by James Dean, a legendary handsome actor of the 1950s. The German-made fast car is powered by a 4-cylinder 1,498 cc engine was once often used by the actor for speeding on the road.
James Dean passed away after his 'Little Bastard' is involved in a catastrophic collision on the way to a race meeting in September 30, 1955. (Picture from: Hagerty)
Fyi, the type of the James Dean owned car was one of the 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder Limited Editions with the VIN 550-0055, which given the Porsche's '50s typical race livery and No.130. And James Dean is not the only famous person who has owned a 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder, it turns out that there are several other famous figures such as Claude Picasso, the son of the famous painter Pablo Picasso, who also owned the German-made sportscar.

The Porsche 550 Spyder nicknamed the 'Little Bastard' was given to Bill Hickman, one of James Dean's colleagues not for the private vehicle, but for the purposes of making a film. Reportedly also the name pinned to the body of the car, the 'Little Bastard' is James Dean's nickname which is said to have been given by the Warner Bros boss while felt annoyed with the actor.
Possibly the last picture of James Dean before the fatal crash of the Porsche 550 Spyder 'Little Bastard'. (Picture from: DriveTribe)
Furthermore, the strange aura of the car had actually been seen by some of James Dean's colleagues. As quoted from DriveTribe, once a time, James Dean was driving in this car around Los Angeles while on the way, he met Alec Guinness and then showed his brand-new car to the British actor. Alec felt and noticed a strange aura emanating from "Little Bastard," as he described in his diary as it's looked sinister, exhausted, hungry, and irritable.

"Please never get in it... if you get in that car you will be found dead in it by this time next week," Alec tried to warn Dean about the "strange aura" of the car. But James Dean laughed it off and set about preparing the car for the Salinas sports car races with his Porsche mechanic Rolf Wütherich and Bill Hickman. And sure enough, James Dean died seven days later, on September 30, 1955 in a fatal accident, when he was driving the car with Rolf Wütherich, his mechanic toward to the mentioned weekend race event.

At that time, the car driven by Dean running at a high speed of about 85 mph (137 kph) is collided with a Ford Tudor sedan driven by Donald Turdnupseed at an intersection of Route 46 in Cholame, California. James Dean died on the spot, and his car was destroyed. As reported from the History page, besides Dean, there were two other people who were also involved in the accident, namely the Ford sedan driver named Donald Turdnupseed who was in severe shock, and also mechanic Rolf Wütherich who suffered serious injuries all over his body.

Not only that, the mechanic Rolf Wütherich was also haunted by guilt for years and attempted suicide twice during the 1960s. Until finally, in 1967 he began to lose consciousness and stabbed his wife 14 times with a kitchen knife. Due to mental instability, Wütherich was sent to a mental hospital instead of prison. And finally in 1981, the mechanic died drunk while driving.
After the death of the stylish young actor, it turned out that his "Little Bastard" also killed and injured many other people. (Picture from: Hagerty)
But the story doesn't end here. After the death of the stylish young actor who skyrocketed through the film "Rebel With a Cause", it turned out that his "Little Bastard" also killed and injured many other people. After the deadly accident, the carcass was taken to the junk yard, but when it was about to be unloaded from the trailer, the car wrecked slid uncontrollably and broke the leg of one of the mechanics. Since then, many strange things have happened to the car, such as moving on its own without anyone moving or controlling it. Some people said that the 'curse of Little Bastard' gained strength over the time.
The Porsche 550 Spyder 'Little Bastard' carcass after the deadly accident and left its haunting story never be revealed. (Picture from: Hagerty)
As happened to Dr. William Eschrid when he bought the 'Little Bastard' components from the junk yard such as the engine and others which were later used in his Lotus IX race car and his fellow doctor Troy McHenry's race car, and raced each other on the track at the 1956 Pomona sports-car races. What happened then? After a few laps, McHenry lost control of his car and crashed into a tree; and kill him instantly. Meanwhile, Eschrid had a sudden wheel lock, his car rolled several times, lucky to him not died, but was badly injured.
Turn out, the popularity of the "Little Bastard" attracted interest of the publicity monger and self-proclaimed 'King of Kustoms' George Barris to buy the carcass out of the junk yard for $2,500, promising to rebuild it. But when he found that the mangled frame could not be beyond recovery, Barris chose to capitalise on the car’s notoriety. Then the carcass of the Porsche 550 Spyder was loaned to the Los Angeles chapter of the National Safety Council ranging from 1957 to 1959, it went on a gruesome tour of car shows, cinemas and bowling alleys to campaign for safety driving.

While being stored in Fresno in March 1959, the car mysteriously caught on fire. The vehicle was slightly damaged, only two tires melted and some of the paint was scorched and luckily the fire did not spread to other vehicles in the warehouse. Then there is another unconfirmed horrible story about the 'Little Bastard' when it was exhibited at a local high school in Sacramento, which suddenly fell of its display then befall a student and broke the hip.
Meanwhile, Barris had sold a pair of tyres from the 550 and both reportedly blew at the same time, causing the new owner to career off the road. The 550 Spyder also reportedly fell on and killed George Barkus, the driver who transported it to a road-safety expo.

Finally, the Porsche is rumoured to have disappeared from a sealed boxcar in 1960 while en route from Miami to Los Angeles. Some believe that Barris, ever the showman, fabricated that story as a way of keeping the car’s mystique alive and left the haunting story of the 'Little Bastard' never be revealed. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | HAGERTY | ]

This was an American muscle car you've heard less

Rare ONES Hearing the word American car, our imagination will immediately drift to the 'mischief' of a muscle car which has indeed become the hallmark of American cars. And a muscle car is an American-style sports car that has a distinctive power and design. Maybe we are familiar with the rows of American muscle cars produced by Ford, GM and Chrysler, so maybe we rarely know that there's the American Motors (AMC) had also produced the similar muscle cars named the AMC AMX.
The AMC AMX was the true sports car and the real high-performance edition, although it has not fared very well in the market. (Picture from: OldCarsWeekly)
The AMX's starting point came when American Motors hired Dick Teague as assistant design director in 1959. Three years later he became vice president of Automotive Styling and since then a new era has begun at the company. At the time Teague's job is to transform American Motors from being a small economy car builder to more broad-scale one, so that it could compete with the Detroit's Big Three (Ford, GM, and Chrysler).

By the way the decision taken by AMC, it turns out that many parties, especially historians, regretted that could be happened by saying that the company should keep building only small cars, or at least small and medium-sized cars, and avoid direct collisions by making larger models, because Ford, GM and Chrysler are considered to be more experienced and owned that market segment, so it's become very difficult for the AMC to rival them in that time.
1966 AMC AMX Prototype is a full-sized model of a two-seat sports car concept that features AMC's "Ramble Seat" for two additional passengers at rear is designed by American Motors Corporation (AMC) and known as the first "AMX" (American Motors Experimental) named car. (Picture from: Wikipedia)
But what can I say, AMC has already decided to participate in enlivening this market segment thus by full of confidently the company launched and produced the AMC AMX ranging from 1968 to 1970. The car is a two-seater GT muscle car model and also known as one of the two American two-seater sports cars, and making it in a direct competition with the Chevrolet Corvette, which has a wheelbase of one inch (2.5 cm) longer, but for substantially less price.
The AMC AMX is fitted with the optional high-compression medium block 390 cu in (6.4 L) AMC V8 engine. (Picture from: OldCarsWeekly)
The AMX name originates from the "American Motors experimental" code used on a concept vehicle and then on two prototypes shown on the company's "Project IV" automobile show tour in 1966. One was a fiberglass two-seat "AMX", and the other was a four-seat "AMX II". Both of these radically styled offerings reflected the company's strategy to shed its "economy car" image and appeal to a more youthful, performance-oriented market.

The AMC's muscle car is fitted with the optional high-compression medium block 390 cu in (6.4 L) AMC V8 engine, it could be said that the AMX offered top-notch performance at an affordable price. Then what about the performance? As Eric Dahlquist wrote up the 1970 AMX in the December 1969 edition of Motor Trend and summed it up as 'one of the better constructed cars around.'
The AMC AMX also known as one of the two American two-seater sports cars, and making it in a direct competition with the Chevrolet Corvette. (Picture from: OldCarsWeekly)
The test car had the optional 390-cid V-8 that produced 325 hp at 5,000 rpm and 420 lbs.-ft. of torque at 3,000 rpm. It drove through the Borg-Warner four-speed gearbox to a 3.54:1 rear axle. Zero-to-60 mph took 6.56 seconds and Dahlquist did the standing-start quarter-mile in 14.68 seconds at 92 mph. Top speed in fourth gear was recorded as 109 mph.
The AMC AMX had a production run of 4,116 units, which made it the rarest of the three two-seat editions during 1968 to 1970. (Picture from: OldCarsWeekly)
In spite of this value and enthusiastic initial reception by automotive media and enthusiasts, sales never thrived. However, the automaker's larger objectives to refocus AMC's image on performance and to bring younger customers into its dealer showrooms were achieved.
After three years in the production line with 4,116 units ever produced, the two-seat version was discontinued in 1970, and the AMX's signature badging was transferred to a high-performance version of its four-seat sibling named the Javelin is produced ranging from the 1971 to 1974. Although the AMX nameplate was to be used again on Javelin- and Hornet-based models, the two-seater AMX was the true sports car and the real high-performance edition, although it has not fared very well in the market. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | HEACOCKCLASSIC | OLDCARSWEEKLY | WIKIPEDIA ]

His favorite car was the iconic Ferrari 250 GT Lusso, although the actor, who also has a passion for racing, is known to have bought a rare Ferrari 275 NART Spyder, unfortunately the car owmed by him only for two days. Furthermore, the actor is also known to have owned a red-colored Ferrari 275 GTB/4 which was specially ordered by a Hollywood Sports Car dealer for the actor in 1967, when he was roled in the movie titled 'The Thomas Crown Affair.'

As reported by GT Spirit, the McQueen' Ferrari originally had a distinctive metallic gold color called 'Nocciola,' but the actor asked for the paint to be changed to 'Chianti Red' while the car with chassis number #10621 would be sent to him. McQueen also replaced the original GTB/4 wheels with Borrani spoke wheels, which were taken from the 275 GTB NART Spider he had previously.

The last owner bought the McQueen's Ferrari in 2010, and did a full restoration and returned the car to the original specifications as it first owned by Steve McQueen. In 2013, the Ferrari GTB/4 was exhibited at the Museo Ferrari as part of the history of the Italian automaker associated with Hollywood.
The car with the California's plate number of WCT 710 was then auctioned off by RM Auctions in Monterey in 2014 and reportedly managed to sell for more than US $10 million, however the transaction was not as interesting as the story of the Hollywood legend. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | TRADEUNIQUECARS | TOPGEAR | RMAUCTION ]

The hidden 'Little Bastard' concept is a homage means to James Dean

Modern CREATIONS It is well known that Porsche, a German sports car manufacturer, has a unique habit. Where they built a number of concept cars, but never shown to the public and displayed (if they feel the need to show) after some time saved.
Porsche 550ne Concept said to be the hidden 'Little Bastard' concept is a homage means to James Dean. (Picture from: CarZine.gr)
On an occasion at the end of 2020, the Stutgart-based automotive manufacturer had revealed 3 concept cars it had made in the past, such as the Porsche 919 Street Concept, the Porsche 551 'Little Rebel' Concept and the Porsche Vision Renndienst Concept. But the story was not over yet.
Porsche 551 Vision Spyder concept born in 2019 and also inspired of the legendary Porsche 550 Spyder. (Picture from: CarZine.gr)
Uniquely, shortly thereafter, in early 2021, a former Porsche designer named Walter De Silva also revealed a concept car that was built by the German manufacturer in 2008 called the Porsche 550ne "Little Bastard". The concept car has similar styles and looks with the next concept called Porsche 551 'Little Rebel' which born in the 2019 and also inspired by the 550 Spyder.
1955 Porsche 550 Spyder aka 'Little Bastard' was taken as the inspirationel source for the 2008 Porsche 550ne and 2019 Porsche 551 Vision Spyder concepts. (Picture from: CarZine.gr)
The one-off concept car is said to be inspired by the original design of the Porsche 550 Spyder which was once ridden by James Dean, a 1950s Hollywood's legendary actor. As we all know that the actor who has a hobby of car racing then passed away at the age of 24 in a tragic accident in 1955 while driving a Porsche 550 Spyder. And 'Little Bastard' is his nickname which is then written on the back of his Porsche 550 Spyder.

The man whose full name is James Byron Dean is an American actor who was born in Marion, Indiana on February 8, 1931. He is very famous in the 1950s thanks to his acting both on the screen, the Broadway theater stage, and on the big screen. Although his life journey was very short, he managed to become a legend to this day.
Porsche 550ne Concept has a simple cabin design, but still looks really cool with a pair of bucket-styled seats that are deliberately colored in the same way as James Dean's 550 Spyder. (Picture from: CarZine.gr)
Back to the Porsche 550ne concept which said never shown to the public for years before it was finally shown by Walter Da Silva through his personal social media account in three pictures, namely the front, rear and part of the interior.

Those three pictures were displayed by Da Silva along with a short caption stating that the prototype made in 2008 commissioned by the late Prof. Dr. Ing Ferdinand Piech (former CEO of Volkswagen Group) who died on August 25, 2019.

Furthermore, in the short caption Da Silva also stated that the Porsche 550one "Little Bastard" was designed by Porsche's designer team led by him and consisting of Peter Wauda, Christian Felske, and Romi Rost.

Although there is no official statement about the technical specifications. However, at first glance, it can be ascertained that this roofless concept car carries a typical Porsche's mid mounted boxer engine tending to the rear and has a rear wheel drive such as the inspiration source car, the 550 Spyder. This can be seen from the air inlet grille on the rear hood and on the side behind the door.

The roofless sports concept car with a single exhaust hole is also equipped with a manual transmission as seen from the look of the shift stick and three pedals at the foot of the driver's compartment. The concept car also has a simple cabin design, but still looks really cool with a pair of bucket-styled seats that are deliberately colored in the same way as James Dean's Porsche 550 Spyder. There's a little difference, ie the 550ne concept featured with modern touch, although it does not leave a typical classic lines of the original Porsche 550 Spyder.

It is not known for what purpose this car was made. The public only thought that the concept car would be a monument to commemorate to the legendary actor James Dean. Unfortunately, the existence of this concept car is unknown, whether it still in the Porsche plant or not? No one knows.😔 *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | CARZINE.GR ]
