How unique the Bertone Blitz EV concept of the '90s

UNIque ONES Indeed today we are in the era of electric vehicles. It feels like just yesterday, we are amazed when we see electric-powered concept cars presented by the makers. But now, there were so many electric-powered vehicles had been milling about on the streets.

So it should be if we thank those who pioneered this electric vehicle, ranging from the very beginning of its development to the present day. So that in recent years we have been inundated with electric cars from small to large automakers and ranging from regular to high performance.

And the Bertone Blitz electric-powered car is one of those most bizarre interpretations ever built in the 1990s of what an EV sports car should look be like. This prototype is an open-air two-seater electric-powered show car created in the 1992 as a study design and also experimented with electric traction and with new materials for the chassis and bodywork. To achieve the desired 'lightness', the body is made by Albatech in 25CD4 steel tubes, mounted with fiberglass panels with epoxy resin and a Roacell core.

Well, the bodywork consists entirely of composite materials (consisted of epoxy glass and autoclave-produced nomex), with the interior made of carbon. So it's not surprising that the car weighs only 650 kg (1,433 lbs), of which 260 kg (572 lbs) is the weight of the batteries.

Moreover, its appearence peeled at the back, fully open roofless, with an unusual seating layout (with the driver's seat located slightly in front of the passenger seat). We were assumes 2 units ever had produced (according to the pictures shown at several sites such Carstyling, Conceptcarz, etc), both of which had that incredible two-tiered design like the Fiat Multipla and have been shown off for the first time at the 1992 Turin International Motor Show.🙏

Lotus E-R9, the future race car of 2030

Concept ONLY After some time ago we have submitted an article about Lotus Eleven, one of the 1950s famous racing cars from Lotus and also to replace the Lotus Nine, its legendary race car. So now we are trying to see the racing cars that will be used in the future, which seems to have been trying to predict by Lotus through an electric racing car design study for the 2030 season named Lotus E-R9.

The car concept is inspired by an airplane that has the best level of aerodynamics. This was emphasized by Richard Hill, Chief Aerodynamicist of Lotus Engineering, that the car concept drives such a car in general but the curves like a fighter jet.

The canopy is seen in common fighter aircraft and the delta-wing shape at the top. Another innovation in the form of active aerodynamics with moving panels and vertically attached to control the car during fast cornering. Then its colors displayed are black and gold, which are the hallmarks of Lotus, which known has a legacy of being the 13-time the world's racing champion of Formula-1.

If in 1955, the Lotus Nine took part in the Le Mans racing event for the fisrt time, that's meaning if later in 2030, the Lotus E-R9 concept car going to race and at the time would be a celebration of the 75th anniversary of Lotus Mark IX.

As Louis Kerr, a Vehicle Architect of Group Lotus plc, said, "Battery energy density and power density are developing significantly year on year. Before 2030, we'll have mixed cell chemistry batteries that give the best of both worlds, as well as the ability to 'hot-swap' batteries during pitstops" That's mean the battery development is also being carried out so that when the car make a pit stop, it wouldn't need much time to replace the battery.

The first super hybrid species of McLaren called Artura

SuperBEAST Previously McLaren launching the McLaren Sabre model on December, 2020, and now the Woking-based manufacturer back to shock the automotive world by officially launching its first series production of the high-performance hybrid supercar named the McLaren Artura. The super car is said to be a perfect combination of performance, driving dynamics including an electric-powered car driving capability as well.

As quoted from the Autoblog, the McLaren Artura is also said to be the one of the most significant presentations in the entire history of those British's brand, where this car is built with a lightweight construction from the latest carbon fiber material called the McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture (MCLA) and coupled with a new optimized hybrid drive technology or High Performance Hybrid (HPH).

The supercar's body has been designed by using a perfect blend of the superformed aluminum and carbon fiber to make it extremely light, especially since it carries of hybrid powertrain elements including the electric-motors and battery. So it's no surprise, then the McLaren Artura has a power-to-weight ratio of 488 PS/ton and the lightest dry weight of 1,395 kg.

The Artura has a more aggressive and proportionate appearance in order to increase the level of aerodynamics. Even the designer of the car, Rob Melville said that the car's contours were formed with a patented technical sculpting so that there was no need for additional active fins for its aerodynamics. Apart from that, Artura also has more functional side vents and there are air vents above the wheels. While in terms of dimensions, the car has a length of more than 450 cm, a width of under 200 cm, while the wheelbase is 264 cm.

As mentioned above, the McLaren's super car uses a hybrid drive system by combining a 3.0 liter twin-turbo V6 petrol engine and the electric-motors, coupled with a new 8-speed dual-clutch transmission system, and a lithium-ion battery pack of 7.4 kWh. And of those hybrid system can be delivered a combined power output of 680 PS (671 bhp) and 720 Nm (530 lb ft) of torque.

So then the Artura super hybrid car performance is claimed to be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in just 3 seconds, as for sprint from 0-200 kph in 8.3 seconds and 0-300 kph in 21.5 seconds. Meanwhile, its top speed is limited to 330 kph.

The dual propulsion system is fitted by using an engine cut-off clutch to drive a new dual clutch transmission which has been developed specifically for the Artura. Then the battery pack in the car's hybrid system is made up of five lithium-ion modules, which offer a total battery capacity of 7.4 kWh which could be made the car to drive as far as 30 km while in the pure EV driving mode.

Did You know the gorgeous classic Paul Arzens' whales?

ONE-OFF Maybe some of you still remember the article we wrote and published some time ago about the figure of a tiny car known as L'Oeuf or L'Oeuf Electrique (Electric Egg). This futuristic car was made by French visionary artist, industrial designer and engineer named Paul Arzens in 1942.

As quoted from Wikipedia, apart from designing and making the unique car mentioned above, it turns out that Paul Arzens had previously designed and made another unique car known as La Baleine (the whale) twice. It seems that the car's name in addition referring to its size is also to its design which resembles to those biggest marine mammal at glance.

The first prototype of La Baleine was a sleek and attractive two-seater cabriolet built in 1937 - 1938 on a 1920s old Buick chassis. The car, which is nearly 7 meters long, is powered by a 3.5 liter (214 cubic inch) six-cylinder engine and is claimed to be capable of producing enough power to carry it to a top speed of 160 kph.

This gorgeous car figure features integrated headlights, a panoramic curved windshield (made of the plexiglas) and a proto-pontoon format style, a design that was later anticipated to be the sports car of the 1950s and 1960s. Then the 2nd prototype of La Baliene was made by Paul Arzens two years after the first. At that time France was during the German occupation which made the fuel especially gasoline for civilians use, being scarce. Due to it was made in difficult conditions for fuel, Paul Arzens made it as an electric powered vehicle sourced of the accumulator batteries that weighs 1,100 kg.

The second La Belaine prototype is made similar to the first (at least on the exterior), but is built on the chassis of an old Fiat which is much lighter than the Buick. The electric motor of this car is claimed capable of generating the power around 10 hp with a range of 200 km at speeds ranging from 65/70 kph.

When an automaker in collaboration with gamers designed a supercar

Concept ONLY Not that many people know that Ford has an eSports division. Started in 2019, Team Fordzilla has more than 40 drivers spread across various European countries. Not only playing games, but this team also made a futuristic-style car named Team Fordzilla P1.

The development let Ford’s eSports division partnered with Ford’s design department to create a virtual custom supercar known as the Team Fordzilla P1. Previously, they also used social media to get advice from fans about the seating position, cockpit style, and even the engine used. The concept model virtually had been debuted at the 2020 Gamescon in Germany.

Since last August 2020, the Fordzilla P1 concept is still a digital display, but in January, 2021 Ford officially launched a concept version of the P1 as a real-sized model. Here they are 2 unique Dragon Ball motorcycles brought into real world by Bel & Bel

So CUTES For many people it may be agreed that childhood was one of the happiest phases in life that everyone should have. And the most memorable memories that carry over to adulthood are one of them obtained from animated films. One of the animated films most watched by children (especially those whose childhood was in the mid of 1980s to the 1990s) around the world is the 'Dragon Ball' cartoon series based on the Akira Toriyama's best seller comic under same titled.

Maybe you still remember one episode of the 'Dragon Ball' cartoon series which tells of the existence of a sophisticated object called the Hoi Poi Capsule, a container developed by Capsule Corp and is used to store vehicles and other products developed by the company. And one of the capsules called Capsule 9, contains the future motorcycle that Bulma rode when she went to meet Goku.

The unique shape of a motorbike maybe awakens your imagination and dream to be able to own and ride it in the real world. In the near future your dream might be come true, because reportedly there is a studio and workshop based in Barcelona, Spain named Bel & Bel developed the functional prototype of the Bulma's unique-shaped motorcycle.

Not only that, previously the Barcelona-based studio and workshop had also made the other motorcycle prototype of the Dragon Balls cartoon series known as Lunch motorbike, which is a unique one-wheeled motorcycle with a cursory appearance like a sea horse. In the Dragon Ball cartoon series, you can see that this single-wheeled motorcycle is also driven by Bulma.

Through its Instagram page, Bel & Bel has published some pictures of the exclusive motorbikes that (might be) we want to have all. There is a significant difference, if in the Dragon Ball cartoon series, the motorbike uses a conventional engine and has fierce sound when it is in action, but in the Bel & Bel creation made as an electric-powered (hub type) ones by using an electric motor placed on the rear wheel even though it still looks like has double (fake) exhausts.

Then this Bulma motorcycle chassis is specially made in size, of course, not for big people, because it is adjusted to the posture of Bulma and Goku (roughly the size of children around 7-8 years old). So tiny and cutie. This is a handmade and unique motorcycle. This can be seen also in the details such as the fairing which was made specifically for this vehicle or the acrylic dome.

Furthermore, the motorbikes maker explained that the electric-powered motorcycle has three speeds and also an integrated mapping system with a dragon ball radar like that of the one in the cartoon series. Maybe by using this system, we able to be look for those magic balls in our world!😉

The Bel & Bel also said that they made the two replicas of the Dragon Ball cartoon series motorbikes, because they watched and like the series since childhood and wanted to remake the vehicle as Fan Art. Reportedly, they are currently trying to get an official license from Toei-Animation, the animation studio that made the Dragon Ball cartoon series.
