These sensors can detect hazardous chemicals

Some scientists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has recently developed an impressive sensor that serves to protect us from a variety of things ranging from bombs to expired foods. Mentioned, the sensor is very simple. The sensor was modified of the NFC chip to detect the presence of specific gases with the help of nanotub carbon.

The functionality of the sensor is very interesting. Although the team of chemists who developed this technology to explore all sorts of different use for it, this sensor will be a very useful tool for checking the packages of food.

These objects can tell us whether a food has expired just by waving our smartphones. To see test these sensors detect the chemical substances with a smartphone, you can see the video below:
"The beauty of these sensors is that they are very cheap. You pair them up and let them sit in there and then you read. There should be no wires. No need power," said Professor Timothy Swager, an MIT scientist, through the official renowned university website.

"You can be very imaginative about what you want to do with technology like this," he continued. The MIT team that discovered this sensor has filed a patent on the technology. They are also trying to improve the work of this sensor with Bluetooth, so it can increase its reach.

In fact, scientists think they will be able to integrate it with the badge so that the employees who work in hazardous areas may get a warning if there is the presence of a hazardous gas around them. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | GIZMAG]

A unique futuristic Russian military assault wagon

As we know the Humvee is the US-made vehicle with higher ground clearance than an SUV and generally used for military purpose.

Currently a Russian automotive company and also known as Soviet-era limousines maker, ZIL made a military assault wagon concept thought as Russia's answer to the Humvee that can accommodate 10 people with all-seats facing the window and reportedly commissioned for army use.

The Russian military assault wagon concept is said to be based on the chassis of a Humvee, although it seats many more people (10 in total), and sports disparate proportions. ZIL claims the body was designed using "advanced 3D modeling," with a special emphasis on building a psychologically intimidating and "menacing" aesthetic.

Besides the car's shape was unique, it also designed with high ground clearance to be able to traverse any off-road terrain. The all-wheel-drive military vehicle has a weighs about 4,570 kilograms and its power comes from a Cummins inline-4 diesel engine with 185 hp, transferred to all four wheels via a five speed manual gearbox and two speed transfer case.

Another advantage of the Russian armored personel carrier concept, where is each passenger dealing with exits that make it easier for the Russians soldiers to get in and out of the car if one of the passengers had orders from superiors.

In my opinion, when looking at the design and placement of seating position, the car is well suited to be applied such as the safari park vehicle for facilitating the passengers to enjoy the scenery without having to turn right or left. Custom motorcycle called the RLX was carrying a S&S 132" X-Wedge V-twin engine which becomes the focus of attention of the café racer motorcycle is. Equipped with a 6-speed transmission system, the power of the motorcycle's engine is channeled to the 2 into 1 into 3 of the Darwin Motorcycles's typical made.

For the engine sector, there are some special parts and very rarely used by the motorcycle in general ie the ceramic-made bearing parts (World Ceramic Bearings).

At the framework sector, in particular the modifier designed it by himself in accordance with the posture of the motorcycle engine. And for the design refers to the racing motorcycle model with a rake angle of 25 degrees, 'Racing Innovations Muscle Bike frame'.
For the bodywork itself was the Darwin Motorcycles limited design which were still referring to the café racer characteristic. And café racer is a modification flow which were loved by the world's modifiers, because the flow is the bikers get the classic impression which became his passion. The car is one of the classic cars made specifically for broke the car's record with the highest speeds on the streets in the 20th century ago.

After 100 years of existence which began indelible, Duncan Pittaway, an automotive enthusiast and his crew managed to find the 'legendary' chassis belonging to one of only two Fiat S76 ever made in the world.

As mentioned above, this chopper using a S&S 124"V-Twin engine. As many of us know that a world-class builder is very large-capacity machine likes to use and tough to create a creativity that is capable of giving birth to a very remarkable results, such as Harley Davidson, which is powered by S&S 124 this. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | MOTOMODIFIC.COM]

The Chinese wooden replica of Lamborghini

Chinese creativity in creating counterfeit goods is admirable. This time a carpenter from Putian, Fujian Province, China made the replica of Lamborghini Roadster. Uniquely, this sport car is made of wood.

The carpenter had the desire to have an exotic sports car, but due to lack of moneys he is unlikely to buy the original model. However, by leveraging his expertise, he made the Italian sports car from mahogany wood.

Indeed, the result was not 100 percent similar to the Lamborghini. However, at least the design of the car is already similar to the two-seat sports car without a roof, with scissor doors, and has a large rear wing.

Not only rely on appearance, this wooden sports car is equipped with tires and use of electric power so that the Chinese wooden Lamborghini Roadster is capable to running at speeds of 30 kph, such as reported of Autoevolution on Thursday, November 27, 2014.

The carpenter took more than half a year and spending at least 100,000 yuan (Rp. 198 million) to build the sport car. But his hard work has paid off, after reportedly there are collectors who are willing to pay twice as much to buy his unique wooden Lamborghini Roadster. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | AUTOEVOLUTION]

Sony releases the camera phone sensor with resolution 21MP

Sony has just announced the arrival of a new camera sensors for smartphones with the resolution of 21 megapixels. This sensor will begin to be sent to the buyer in April 2015 and named Exmor RS IMX230.

The Exmor RS IMX230 using CMOS imaging sensor design which allows more faster autofocus and create better image quality. Not only that, Sony also provided it with 4K video recording capabilities.

Like its predecessor, this new sensor also adopted the stacked design. According to Sony, this kind of design can make a smaller size of CMOS sensor, but can give higher image quality and better functionality.

Sony explained that the Exmor RS IMX230 uses a chip that consists of a series of signal processing, instead of using a back-illuminated image sensor SMOS as commonly used in another camera sensor.
The image comparison above to see how the new CMOS sensor (right) stacks up against its predecessor (left) with the new capabilities. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/13j7ch3)
The Exmor RS IMX230 supported up to 192 autofocus points that are capable of producing better focus detection although fast moving objects. The autofocus capability equivalent to the ability of the DSLR autofocus (see the example image above).

At the moment shipped later, Sony will give the price for their new sensor at 18 dollars or around Rp.220 thousand. And does not rule out the possibility of this sensor will first be pinned on Xperia Z4, the latest generation of Sony's flagship smartphone which reportedly will release early next year. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | SONY | IMORE]
