Scientists develop smart bullet technology

The future army seems to be armed with smart bullet technology. With this technology, the shooter does not have to worry one right target and projectile will hit the target.

As reported from Engadget on Sunday, July 13, 2014, the army has long dreamed of the presence of smart ammunition minimize one target when shooting. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) reveals a technology called EXACTO (Extreme Accuracy Tasked Ordnance).

In a demonstration video that uploaded to YouTube, the EXACTO 50-caliber round and optical sighting technology expects to greatly extend the day and nighttime range over current state-of-the-art sniper systems.

The system combines a maneuverable bullet and a real-time guidance system to track and deliver the projectile to the target, allowing the bullet to change path during flight to compensate for any unexpected factors that may drive it off course.

The EXACTO technology allows bullets are not affected to the wind and weather, even if the shooter attempts to shoot one target, the bullet will fall at a specified point.
The project is reportedly still continue to develop. In the future, smart bullet technology can help the snipers in their mission on the battlefield. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | ENGADGET]
