Indian electric scooter tries American market

Mahindra Group try exploring to enter the two-wheeler market the United States. Not competing with the American legends such as Harley Davidson or Victory, but instead target segment is still relatively undisturbed, the electric scooter.

Mahindra feels proud to introduce GenZe in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on May 10, 2014. Electric scooter is capable of driving as far as 48 km in a fully charged condition. Maximum speed of only 48 kph. With the specifications offered by GenZe, consumers in the U.S. do not need to have a driver's license to drive it.

Scooter with one passenger is manufactured at Mahindra plant in Michigan with a capacity of 9,000 units per year. If sales are good, the capacity can be increased to 20,000 units per year. GenZe developed in Palo Alto, California and was designed simultaneously produced in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Although it looks simple, GenZe equipped with digital panel meters, 7 inches touch screen. It looked like a waterproof mini tablet with a Bluetooth connection capability. Various information such as speed, residual battery energy, and so treats utamannya mileage. In India, GenZe been launched since September 2013, but could penetrate U.S. sales start this year.

To strengthen its presence in the U.S., Mahindra also inaugurated a kind of research and development center, Mahindra North American Technical Centre. The main purpose of this facility is inaugurated, "Focus on giving Mahindra competitive through product design, and technology that support the product portfolio in the future".

The facility employs 40 engineers with the ability to design vehicles. Under conditions of maximum, this facility can accommodate up to 125 engineers and collaborate with the entire Mahindra product development team in India. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | HYBRIDCARS]
