Peek at the latest Porsche's race cars (Part-1)

In the event of Geneva Motor Show 2014, Germany famous auto manufacturing company, Porsche focused on the world of motorsport. As this year highlight by presenting the world-class debut of the Porsche 919 Hybrid sports car for the main categories of the 2014 World Endurance Championship (WEC), the 24 Hours of Le mans as the uncontested highlight of the season. To produce hybrid super racing car, Porsche collaborating with the leading tire company, Michelin.

Michelin company headquartered in Clermont-Ferrand played a role in the development of the new Porsche 919 Hybrid, by designing special tires for the class prototype LMP1 (Le Mans Prototype 1). Michelin tires were developed on the simulator for all partners and enhanced LMP1 Hybrid Porsche 919. Tests conducted by the technical team of both parties.

Talking about this car, chairman of Porsche AG Matthias Muller says that is an important thing to test the resilience of a technology on the track. Moreover, in the endurance test, not the fastest car will win, but the car is the most powerful and economical. "Hybrid 919 is a research laboratory of the fastest moving and most complex racing car ever built by Porsche," he admits.

He then says that this car has high efficiency and is made with a degree of caution when combining powerful things. Combustion engine is a V compact four-cylinder petrol engine that also serves as a load-bearing member in the chassis.

It is a pioneer of the philosophy of streamlining future-oriented display engine displacement of 2-liter, direct fuel injection and mono turbocharging, the engine can turn at speeds of up to 9,000 rpm. The compact engine outputs in range of 500 hp.

In addition, a prototype that will compete in the Le Mans has two energy recovery systems. Fundamentally new thing here is that the system can recover heat energy from the exhaust gas through an electric generator driven by the exhaust gas stream.

The hybrid system has a function that is both familiar with the 918 Spyder. Here, the generator on the front axle using braking phase to transform kinetic energy into electrical energy.

While Lithium-ion battery serves as the energy storage medium. At this energy the driver requires the electric motor will drive the front axle. This will make the 919 Hybrid is temporarily become all-wheel drive vehicles.
This innovative prototype shown at Geneva on stage flanked by a Porsche 911 RSR as there will be eight races throughout the WEC. Furthermore, Porsche will present the Macan S Diesel to public for the first time while at the same time the 911 Targa is celebrating its debut in Europe.
