The Hottest 10 Convertible Cars (1st-part)

For the countries that have four seasons, sunlight couldn't be enjoyed throughout the year so when summer comes they have to make the best use for drying the skin.

Entering the summer usually in March-April each year, a number of vehicle manufacturers began to offer a world-class cars that claimed to be comfortable to enjoy the summer sun. Here are the first part of the hottest 10 of the convertible vehicles taken from the Popular Mechanics site for drivers who love the sun.

10. 2013 Toyota FT-86 Open-Concept

The new concept car released by Toyota in the 2013 Geneva Auto Show and the mass production is planned soon. The supercar became one of the vehicles that qualified option to spend a summer vacation.

The FT-86 Open concept is equipped with the same 200-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine as the coupe. The FT-86 Open concept weighs 2,771 pounds, 35 pounds more than the Scion FR-S with a six-speed automatic transmission. The convertible drives the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission or six-speed automatic transmission.

Interestingly Toyota FT-86 Open-Concept, retains the Toyota coupe's two-plus-two seating arrangement (we'd prefer a proper roadster setup here), but things still look good for this droptop two-door that make the luggage capacity is reduced. Even so Toyota said that this car was designed from the beginning to be a convertible.

9. 2013 VW Beetle Turbo Convertible

One of these things is not like the other: The VW Beetle Turbo Convertible isn't a fire-breathing hard-edged sports car like the other droptops here. Yet with a 200-hp turbocharged motor under the hood, it's certainly no slouch, hitting 60 mph in less than 7 seconds with a six-speed manual.

This new Beetle convertible packs more visual heat than the old one. It's both muscled and finely tailored at the same time—the VW feels like it costs more than it actually does. Its fabric top is quiet and can raise or lower quickly while the vehicle is traveling at speeds up to 49.89 kph (31 mph).

The ride is smooth and pleasantly muffles out the worst road grit. Power down the top, enjoy the turbo's whoosh and the wind in your hair, and you might not care where you're driving. At a price of around $30,000 (or approx Rp. 291 million) fully loaded, the Beetle is an inexpensive way to have some open-air fun.

8. 2014 BMW Z4 sDrive35is

The name might bewilder those who are unfamiliar with BMW's roadster lineup, but get past the tongue-twister badge and you'll find this is one rewarding machine with a folding hardtop.

The Z4 gets a handful of minor upgrades for 2014, but thankfully the sweet twin-turbocharged 335-hp inline six remains in place, paired to a dual-clutch transmission. That means 60 mph will fly by in less than 5 seconds.

Yes, we would prefer a proper manual transmission in a car like this. But to row your own gears you'll need to step down to the less powerful sDrive35i or 28i.

7. 2013 Porsche 911 Cabriolet

Since 1983, the Porsche 911 Cabriolet become one of the iconic convertible sports car in the world. Like the Corvette, the 911 Cabriolet to be one of the daily ride favored.

The bones of the latest one are shared with the coupe; there's a little more than 150 pounds of additional bracing to help shore up the structure of the open-air car, that paired with seven-speed manual or the wonderfully smart PDK dual-clutch transmission, this is Porsche's most potent open-air machine.

With the retractable roof that could raises and lowers within 13 seconds so that when used in the city, this vehicle is very flexible. Vehicles equipped with 7-speed manual transmission is capable of producing up to 400 hp so well-liked fast cars enthusiasts and the 911 Cabrio is the benchmark for droptop sports cars.

6. 2014 Jaguar F-Type

The first roadster from Jaguar in 40 years, the 2014 F-Type was worth the wait. This convertible is a thrilling blend of style, performance and luxury, and no matter what your priorities are, you're sure to lust after it.

Jaguar's flagship XK convertible serves up power and prestige. The supercar is equipped with power ranges from a 340-hp supercharged V-6 up to a 495-hp V-8, with an honest 380-hp V-6 occupying the middle ground. According to Jaguar, the most powerful F-Type is able to achieve acceleration 0-100 kph in 4.2 seconds.

Each engine will come paired to an eight-speed automatic—sadly, there are no manual transmission will come along for the ride.
